main areas: personal growth, leadership training, service
to others and social development.

Group Exercise Classes
Designed to provide increased cardiovascular and
muscular endurance
through continuous movement. Bay View YMCA Member
Benefit.
Age Requirement:
13 years old-Adult are welcome to attend any fitness
class.

Sports
Conditioning
Improve your speed, agility, and quickness with our Youth
Sports Conditioning program.
Participants will learn speed and power fundamentals, core
strengthening exercises,
balance and flexibility exercises.
Age Requirement: 12-16 years old

"Got Strength" Youth & Teen
Strength Training
|

Improve strength, cardiovascular
endurance and flexibility with our strentth
training program created for young adults.
Participants will be introduced to
various forms of resistance training techniques,
cardiovascular programs, flexibility
exercises, nutrition and healthy lifestyles, as well as
wellness Center etiquette.
A Fitness Assessment is
completed at the beginning and end of the session
to
measure personal
progress. Successful completion of the "Got
Strength" program is
required for twelve-year-olds to use the Wellness
Center. All participants receive
a "Got Strength" t-shirt and a certificate of
completion upon successful completion of
the "Got Strength" Program
Age
Requirement: 12-15 years

Teen/Adult Self-Defense
Class
This is a continuous, year-round
class. New students may begin during any
session. Class format involves discussion and
physical practice. Defensive tactics covered
include: releases from rabs, safe falling
techniques, effective striking and kicking methods and
defense against common weapons.
Teen/Adult Karate
Class
Shotokan karate combines good physical
exercise with mental discipline for all experience
levels. Many aspects of karate are challenging
and require personal dedication, but new students can
gain benefits right away. training consists of
basic movements, traditional individual workouts
(kata), and practice with partners in defensive
tactics,including sparring.

YMCA Lifeguarding Course
A certification class including
CPR for the
Professional Rescuer, AED,
Oxygen Administration and First Aid. Must be
16 years old.

Counselor in Training
(CIT)
14-15 years
old
|
| The CIT
Program is designed for mature and enthusiastic teens who
are interested in developing leadership skills and
learning the basics of working with children. CITs
will work closely with a coordinator while learning first
aid, child development, leadership by example, and other
topics. the CIT program is offered as one 8-week
session and applicants must participate in 6 of the
8-weeks of the session. Selected CITs will be
invited back for the last two weeks of Camp to shadow
senior staff. To obtain an application, call the
Bay view YMCA at 671-8414 or stop by the Welcome
